HEY, THERE IS STUFF HAPPENING HERE TOO - EINDHOVEN
Too much fun club #2 / LAF Graffiti Crew
My first trip to Europe got me to the south of the Nederland, in Eindhoven. This city was constructed in [year], “it is fairly new and there is not much happening ” - Most of this city’s habitants that I got a chance to interact with have put an emphasis on this “fact”, which to some extent is an opposite of what I have experienced and seen.
And I certainly wanted to keep a souvenir of Eindhoven and I was fortunate that Jasper Van Es shared the same sentiment and introduced me to LAF [Lafalilia] a graffiti crew that he used to paint together with a lot back in the days, though he isn’t actively involved with them, he still remains a strong friend with them and they have a strong & interesting stories and friendship together.
On a Wednesday of my first week in Eindhoven, I got an invite to attend the second round of the underground electro / dub step dance party [Too Much Fun Club # 2] organized by Sarie Seimans and her friends - This is probably a third on my list of best parties I have ever attended, though I spent the first hours of the party talking about South African politics to strangers who had an interest on having conversations with me once they knew I am from South Africa...but I was fascinated by how the people I spoke to where not indifferent of the politics in their Country and other countries other than theirs as-well.
After these conversations I instantly started making photographs for approximately two hours, I then had too much fun clubbing in Eindhoven for the first time and I was certain from that point that I would go back to Eindhoven at anytime of the day after.
Having recently discovered that my favorite band of all times - Joy Division played a gig in Eindhoven on 18 January 1980 has got me feeling a need to convince everyone in Eindhoven that Hey, there is stuff happening here too.
